Beowulf is divided into three main parts, each of which centers on the hero’s struggle against a particular monster. First Grendel, then Grendel’s mother, then the dragon. The main battle of this play is the peak of the story. This poem is named Beowulf but the author of this poem relates to how Grendel feels about it. The bloody battle against Beowulf and Grendel hits the climax of the poem. The poet chooses to relate much of this struggle from grendel's view point instead of Beowulfs. As the reader digs deeper into the meaning of the poem Beowulf, violence and fear is a main theme.

His way of coping with his problems is to taking everything out with his rival and causing violence. Beowulf did this throughout the whole play. He did not give violence a break.
