Harry, Ron, and Hermione find themselves on the third floor after running away from Filch, the janitor. The trio has to decide whether or not they should continue on the third floor or go back down to a floor they are allowed to be on. Harry, Ron, and Hermione believe Filch is still following them, so they walk further into the third floor and discover a three-headed dog. However, Fluffy, the three-headed dog, is not the only thing hiding on the third floor. Fluffy is standing on a trap door. Hermione notices this and tells Ron and Harry. This makes Harry really curious about what is hiding under the door. Harry’s curiosity gets the best of him. So, Harry, Ron, and Hermione sneak back up to the third floor and find that has been put to sleep by a harp playing itself. The three discover that someone has already gone through the trap door to find whatever is hiding down there. After going through the trap door and playing a life-size game of Wizard Chess, Ron says to Harry, “it’s you that has to go on.” So, Harry goes through to the final hall and finds his Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher, Professor Quirrell, searching for the Sorcerer’s Stone in the Mirror of Erised. This mirror will show anyone their heart’s deepest desires. However, when Professor Quirrell tells Harry to look in the mirror, Harry sees himself pulling the Sorcerer’s Stone out of his pocket, even though this is not his deepest desire.
