Cyrano is a poet, swordsman, musician, philosopher, and the hero of the play. Through his actions, he has proven himself to be courageous, witty, and flamboyant. His is loved by many and his character is often honored and spoken about. When Christian de Novelli asks who Cyrano is, his friend, Le bret, describes him as “the best friend and the bravest soul alive” (12). During this scene Cuigy, Ragueneau, Brissaille, and others chime out about him, proving that he is well-known. His tendency to never back down from a fight has earned him many enemies.
