The Hero In John Hinton's The Outsiders

The Outsiders Is like a rollercoaster, there are ups and downs, nothing stays stable the whole time. There are boys that have been declared heroes, and they seem to never seem to stay out of trouble. The characters Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dally are heroes. But all things must come to an end; not everything will end like a fairytale. Dally has been through a collection of damage from everything that has happened his short life. He had family issues and problems that you can't just put a band-aid over to fix. Dally was one of the few in the gang with a back bone; Dally loved Johnny more than he loved himself. Dally had protected Johnny and Ponyboy after johnny killed Bob on Jay Mountain. The church was on fire and johnny was in the church Dally grabbed him as the flames roared, and he tried to save Johnny as much as possible. As a result, he still got some fatal burns and cuts. Johnny will give you his last dime before he even thinks about himself he is putting himself behind others and that is a heroic deed. In the book, he almost dies on the spot from the church fire saving others, but soon after the fire he dies and gives Ponyboy logical advice about life and advice to tell others. He is a heroic figure no matter what social class he is. Pony is the youngest, who had and still has quite a bit going for him. He went through an abundance supply of drama and still has a lot of mental damage from the post-traumatic drama. Ponyboy (like others on the scene) helped the kids in the church get away and out of the fire. After Johnny had died, Pony told himself that Johnny is not dead and convinced himself of this, even if he is dead. Pony has been through too much for a fourteen year old to even be able to move past and function. Pony is strong and caring for others no matter what he is going
