The night consisted of food, drinks, live entertainment, art vendors of all types, and a live DJ. Baton Rouge is a fertile place for the idea because its profitable and a step towards the growth of the art culture here. Giving local artist of all kinds an opportunity to share their art with people of all shapes and sizes is the main goal of this movement. The phrase "jam session" came from a period of time where white and black musicians would congregate after their regular paying gigs, to play the jazz they couldn 't play in the "Paul Whiteman" style bands. Random times and places sporadically chosen builds the improvability of each individual artist, and or group that participates. Now that you’ve gotten an idea of what this movement looks like and how this idea came about dating back to the 1920’s, i’d like to invite every reader to find an event or jam session to attend as soon as you can, to experience a different culture in Baton Rouge that not many people know exist. Small sub-cultures have great potential to grow in cities largely populated by college students because of the need of acceptance and expression.
