She stated that the nursing shortage is largely due to nursing schools not being able to accept students because of the low numbers of nursing professors and staff, many nurses with advanced degrees seek management level position, and the pay scale for nursing professors is not as lucrative as a management position. Colleague HS thinks that the nursing shortage need to be addressed and improved before we create these affordable ideal platforms for health care. Otherwise the programs may not be successful which hurt the physical and financially well-being of patients. Colleague MB seem to be concern about patient outcomes and cost of health care. Colleague NB feels that the technology of electronic charting is important because information can be shared by all healthcare workers involved in the patient’s care so that continuity of care can be provided. However, Colleague HS believes that the nurse plays an important role in the delivery systems, but feels that the healthcare reform should address the nursing shortage before any programs are initiated.
