Napping has been scientifically been studies, and has been deemed overall effected. If done right. The perfect number is 45 minutes, too much more or too much less and you just wind up more tired than before you took a nap. Due to how specific that window is, it would be very hard for everyone to follow that, and would likely lead to most people being groggy from too long or too short of naps. Another issue would be timing. Most people work or have school during the day, and in order to add time to nap both of these institutions would wind up adding more hours overall, meaning more school and more work. This is where the problem starts, because by making work days longer, you would cause people to burn out quicker. If we were to try, as a nation, to impliment daily naps, we would need to start by convicing corporate heads and state officials that work and school days can be cut down by around an hour to make room for napping, something that would be nearly impossible to …show more content…
Seperated sleeping. I read in an article some months ago that historians had discovered something fascinating about ancient humans, I forget from which society. What they had discovered was that these ancient humans referred often, in their journals and diaries, to something called a second sleep. After much research into this, it was concluded that these ancient humans would go to sleep, wake up naturally for about an hour or two, and then go back to sleep. Each of these two seperated sleeps were about four or five hours, leading to a total 8-10 hours of sleep. This discovered was fascinating, as it lead to both a new understanding of ancient human society, but also could help solve the solution moderns humans have with lack of sleep. I decided to look more into this, and found a few scientific studies that had been done. What they realized was that when they reset their test subjects internal clocks and sleep schedules, most naturally woke up for at least a bit half way through the night. This only further proved what the historians had thought about these ancient humans, and further backed the effectivness of seperated sleep. They then had the test subjects read a book or the news for an hour in the middle of their night of sleep, before going back to bed. What they found was an overall improvement in mood and an overall decrees
