The Hateful Eight Stereotypes

The 8th Quentin Tarantino film is coming. Even in pre production, there was an unprecedented amount of hype for The Hateful Eight. The script leaked and a film fans from all around the world flocked to get an early glimpse of what Tarantino’s 8th feature has in stall for us all but then- it was called off. QT abandoned the film and said he would publish it because he had “Plenty more where that came from”. It seemed that our own eagerness had ruined the fun and that like a petulant boy who took his football home when he didn't get his way, QT took The Hateful Eight from us forever. It wasn't until an organised reading of the script in Los Angeles took place that the buzz returned. Samuel L Jackson was one of the first actors on board (of course …show more content…
Tarantino, like the disgusting misogynist he definitely is didn't give Daisy any lines in the trailer the sexist pig. What we do know is that she is wanted dead or alive for murder. The murder of whom is unclear but we know that Daisy must be dangerous. She must be able to stand her ground in this room full hostile men and I'm sure she will. I’m expecting some Beatrix Kiddo and Jackie brown-esque characteristics in this because that would be interesting to me. I hope she’s the last one standing. A brutal standoff between the remaining 3 banditos has left just John Ruth standing wounded but still in one piece. he screams the words ‘DAISEYYYYYYYY, DAISYYYYYYY GIRLLLL’ whilst wielding and axe. Ruth runs off into the blizzard to find he bounty only to freeze to death in the blizzard whilst Daisy had cunningly doubled backed to the stagecoach to live happily ever after. Just an idea for the ending QT (its not too late to change). I do believe there will be more than meets the eye with Domergue. All I know is that I get psycho vibes in the trailer from her. Bruce Dern, who played a disgusting slaveowner in Django Unchained is back and up to his old tricks again. Sandy Smithers is an ex confederate general whom I imagine isn't to happy about how the civil war turned out. Smithers isn't going to be thrilled when a smooth talking black man strolls into Minnie’s Haberdashery and starts calling the shots. Smithers is not going to be a very happy chappy in this movie and QT’s love affair with the word Nigger will continue. There will certainly be racial tensions caused by Sandy and there is going to be yet another tense relationship between characters. This film is shaping up

In Reginald Rose’s Twelve Angry men, a 19 year old boy is on trial for the murder of his father. 12 jurors hold the fate of his life in their hands, by deciding whether or not he is guilty. They decide this by the use of reasonable doubt, looking at the evidence given for the case, and the witnesses testimonies. The boy is considered a “slum” or to have grown up in the slums ; a very populated area with run-down buildings and people that may have had, or have a financial burden, or don’t have the money to take care of their families and have a “nice” house at the same time. Due to prejudice from some jurors and sympathy from others, and the general diversity between the them, you can put yourself in their positions, and decide whether he is…

The movie “Crash” has portrayed many stereotypes that has an effect in today’s world. Our beliefs about certain race, especially the negative beliefs that we have been holding in our brains which may have passed from generations to generations has destroyed the mentality of the world today. The movie “Crash” has made me realize that our actions as an individual in the population has contributed to criminality. For instance, in the beginning of the movie it shows that a white couple, Jean and Rick walks down the street but they were not holding hands or as close to each other.…

Daisy has a whit to her that I see in my friends and the way Miss. Baker is so serious but won't mind indulging in some drama is so realistic. On page 17, Daisy is speaking of her daughter, and she states “that’s best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.” I believe that during this time it was a given the women must turn the other cheek and do what they are told. Nowadays it isn't so much like that.…

I believe that when you’re viewed in a certain perspective you start to only fit in that one perspective and the longer you’re in it, the harder it is to break free from it. I think that in the movie “The Breakfast Club” directed by John Hughes in 1992, portrays it very well. The group of kids that are in detention are John, the criminal, Brian, the brain, Claire, the princess, Andrew, the jock, and the basket case, Allison. (Hughes.1992) The plot of the movie is that a group of kids are in detention and they find ways to spend the time.…

Sweet Sweetback’s Baad Asssss Song (1971; Sweetback hereinafter) is a low-budget, 97-minute-long independent film written, directed, produced and scored by Melvin Van Peebles (b. 1932). Its production is considered a watershed in the history of US filmmaking. Sweetback’s firm stand on racism in the movie industry and the wider US socio-political context is still pertinent today as the racist ideology is disturbingly still with us today. Hence, the importance of revisiting Sweetback to unpack its multifaceted stance and elucidate how it engages, spoofs and departs from the conventional, “whitestream” movie making practices for the sake of hammering its message home. I will confine myself to looking at how the filmmaker employs an array of cinematic…

So caught up with his personal problems, Hislop was unaware of the trouble redeveloping on the set of Carl Brenso’s film, which the eminent director was on the point of pulling the plug. Nevertheless, when the esteemed director telephoned Hislop to tell him that “I want out of this project,” the mogul was thankful to take control over this ruinous film – as it would be a welcomed distraction from his private crisis – the titan of Xanadu, therefore, announced, “I’ll be there to help, so there’s no need to pull out now. I bet this movie will garner you an academy award.” He stopped talking so that Brenso could contemplate the significance of what the seemingly magnanimous man was saying, and once the director uttered his words of thanks, the…

The movie Inglorious Bastards by Quentin Tarantino begins with a Nazi officer investigating rumors about Jewish stowaways hiding on a small French farm. This intense scene provides the viewer with information regarding the background of the story if they understand film analysis, psychoanalytic and sociologic concepts. The camera work in this scene both foreshadows events and establishes power for our main antagonist of the film, Colonel Hans Landa. The unique way in which the scene is filmed allows us to read the character’s emotions on a much deeper level. Tarantino disguises a lot of valuable information from the viewer that can only be discovered through the use of media analysis.…

Still, it can be argued that stereotypes are derived from a sliver of truth, and should not be taken seriously. For example, when asked to comment if she believed she was perpetuating stereotypes of Asian-American women, actress Nancy Kwan of The World of Suzie Wong and Flower Drum Song “has stated that she was trying to enact roles to the best of her ability and that perhaps people are reading too much into these media images” (Mok, 1998). Furthermore, at University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication, Ji Hoon Park, Nadine Gabbadon, and Ariel Chernin performed a study aiming to understand the implications of racial stereotypes in comedy by analyzing audience reactions to a showing of Rush Hour 2 (2001). Their results showed…
