Brian then, gathered some vines and some sticks that looked like some kind of a fishing pole, meaning, he had to choose the “right” stick. Brian started to attach all the parts together using his hatchet, and made a fishing rod. Brian then tested the fishing rod out, but he couldn’t catch any fish. Brian tried and tried for the last few hours, but not one fish has been caught. On page 107, the narrative points out, “He stood in the shallows and waited, again and again. The small fish came closer and closer and he lunged time after time but was always too slow.” This resolves that Brian was trying his very best in order to capture some food. And when Brian was trying to catch fish, he found out that some foods were not edible. Brian has learned that he has been figuring out what kinds of food are not-edible. He ate some berries and some weren’t healthy, and Brian was dizzy after some days. Brian has overall made fire, a shelter, fishing rod, and food that non-edible and edible. Hatchet vs. A Cry in the Wild I think Hatchet did a way better job of telling the story. In “A Cry in the Wild” they had to skip many things to keep the movie so it's not to long. And in Hatchet, the author lists all the details to give a great image in your mind.…

I believe that Hatchet doses a better job of telling the story. I believe this because, Hatchet gives more details than the movie “A Cry In The Wild” does. In Hatchet he went to sleep like three times after the plane had crashed in the pound. But in the movie he just went to sleep ones. Also in the novel Brien called the barriers gut barriers, but in the movie he called them throw-up barriers.…

After reading Hatchet and watching A Cry in The Wild I think that A Cry in The Wild did a better job of imagery and foreshadowing what happened to the main character Brian in both of the adventures. And in both of them, they have a lot of similarities but very little differences. One of the similarities is that both of the pilots had a heart attack. Except that they died in different ways. In the movie the pilot just yelled and died, and in the book, the pilot yelled about his chest and passed away.…

William Golding’s novel The Lord of the Flies explores many themes such as the dark side of human nature, allegiances, and how these boys mirror larger society. I feel as if the producers of the popular television show “Survivor” used this novel as the framework of their show. Both Golding’s novel and the show have many similarities. When the show “Survivor” premiered, I immediately thought of the novel The Lord of the Flies.…

Attempting to follow the rules in order to survive on their own, eventually lead the boys to become riotous and unmanageable. On the island, things soon become chaotic, leading to a broken society, and misunderstandings. William Golding illustrates a vision of a disorganized and dystopian view of the world throughout the novel. The lack of society on the island influenced Jack’s character throughout the novel, which made him become uncivilized, violent, and manipulative.…
