When people begin a new chapter in life, they begin to think how things are going to fulfill in their life whether it’s positive or negative. Just as a normal person, I began a new chapter in my life which involved me coming to USM. Yes, I had my doubts on somethings, but I knew there had to be some good in it. As I made my schedule to start the fall of 2015, I noticed that I had English as my first class to take. In high school, I hated my English classes. It wasn’t that it was hard or anything. I just wasn’t able to see my potential being presented as a high school student. While in this class as a college freshmen, I have been able to see my work fulfill before my own eyes. The projects that I have produced this semester have made me very …show more content…
During the revision process, I focused on the comments that were provided by you to make my paper a better one. I begin to gradually see a difference in what I was writing as I revised. I became clearer on certain aspects of my paper and most importantly I begin to gain more insight in what I was writing about. For example, in the original paper, the sentence “According to various new articles online, the democratic presidential runner, Martin O’Malley, got booed of stage because of this statement he stated “black lives matter, white lives matters, and all lives matter” (Identities Mic).” In the original, I did not explain why he got booed of the stage, but in my revision I plainly back up my evidence with the reason being that the people did not like that the fact that he wasn’t just promoting or supporting the Black Lives Matter Movement because a majority of democrats are African Americans, so they wanted him off the stage. Whether it has been being on time for class, respecting my classmates, or anything in between, I have done it. You see, in the home that I grew up in, my parents have always taught me that being on time for things shows character, and it will allow people to see that you actually care about what you are doing. I have used this principle that was taught to me as a guide to go above and beyond in this class. I wanted you see that I actually care about my work and my grade. My willingness to use the writing center or even go to an event and write a review on it shows that I care about getting sufficient for a B or maybe even receiving an A in the long run. Writing that review with no help from you have shown me that I can write something without depending on a teacher to specifically tell me what I need it. Instead, I open up our textbook and began to dig in and learn on my own how to write a review on an event. Going above and beyond simply means that you have to do more than the average Joe, and you have to try much harder in what you are doing. I honestly believe that I have given my best in this class and my hard work has helped me fulfil the course
