A grandchild admires their grandparents in multiple ways and for various reasons. In my case, for guidance, love, and financial success. My grandparents both came from non-wealthy families. However, this did not negatively impact their lives. In fact, growing up non-wealthy taught them that in order to have what they wanted or needed, they would have to work hard. Both grew up on family farms, therefore, through experience they understand the true definition of hard work.
My grandfather has experienced rough situations. Grandpa Steve grew up in a family of six, including his parents. However, two of his younger brothers died in a boating accident. I have four younger siblings who love to keep me busy. Since I was old enough to help change diapers and prepare baby bottles, I have been kept busy by taking care of not only my siblings, but also my cousins. By doing so, I have been taught how to be responsible. Responsibility is a key factor to have when dealing with money, because I now know how to handle money and how to save and spend. Just as my grandmother had odd-end jobs, I have, too. On top of having those jobs, I also work at our local recreation commission by refereeing, score keeping, umpiring, and helping in the office, too. Having a job allows me to help with my own expenses so that my parents do not have to. I believe that if I want something of my own that is not a necessity, that I myself should pay for it instead of making my parents. My parents work hard to support all five of us children, so I try to help out when needed. My grandmother plays a large role in my life. Not only as my grandma, but also as a role
