In the Italian tale “The Happy Man’s Shirt”, the theme shows that sometimes in life people need certain things to find happiness. The son of the king in the beginning of the story is not very happy and doesn’t feel the same. The son states as he sits by the window, “I don’t even know myself, Father” (1). Throughout the tale, the son is in a depressed mood and his father keeps asking him question among question to try to understand why his son is acting so unusual. The father thought he wanted to pursue a girl to arrange a marriage with no matter her background.
