The Hands on History Trip will teach more about these wonderful historical sites, learning more about the event, and experiencing hands on activities by walking through the Holocaust Museum, having a once in a lifetime experience at the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and by visiting the Island of Alcatraz. “The world is a book, and those who do not travel only read one page” (St. Augustine 1). This quote is significant because it is basically saying that by not going out and experiencing something then most likely nothing will be learned at all. It relates to the three stops because to really understand something, seeing it in person makes the learning experience so much better. This trip is really important because it will give the students a once in a lifetime learning experience that they will never forget. U.S. high schools need to learn that doing this can make the students more interested in what they are learning about. The students will learn more about what they are seeing because they will be seeing it in person. The students will be involved in tours and educational activities to broaden their knowledge.
