In this world we have experienced many Revolutions. At this moment i have decided to talk about three of them. The French Revolution, The Haitian Revolution and The Mexican Revolution. All two out of three of these revolts resulted in freedoms. These three events create a big part of World History.
My first Revolution i will be talking about is the Mexican Revolution. Down in Mexico there were the Indians and the Mestizos. The leader’s name was Miguel Hidalgo he was a Catholic Priest. In 1810, he used his enlightenment ideas to lead an army of 80,000 Mestizos and Indians against the Creoles and Spanish military. The reason of this revolution was simply because the Indians and Mestizos were being over worked and had zero rights …show more content…
France was a home to multiple Enlightenment thinkers and was overall a pretty wealthy country in the 1700’s. The leader at the time was Louis XVI he ruled as a absolute monarch. The start to this uprising began with the unequal social classes, that consisted of three estates. The first estate consisted of Clergy’s, the second estate people who owned 20% of the land and were exempt from paying taxes and the third were simply the rest of the population which was about 97%. Now the third estate started going bankrupt because they were paying such high taxes, but were also being starved because they had no leftover money to pay for food. Another huge cause was the constant spending of the Queen Marie Antoinette. She loved to live life lavishly and the country started paying for her outrageous amounts of cash coming out of the bank. After a while France was still suffering so they decided to have radicals come in and take control on the country. War was declared and the French Monarchy was overthrown and replaced with a Democratic Republic. Fear striked through the country that enemies of the revolution would try and overthrow the new government. A man named Maximilien Robespierre came and took over the control of the National Convention. During his takeover an era called the Reign of Terror began. Thousands of “traitors” were executed by guillotine. Finally in 1799, a man named Napoleon Bonaparte …show more content…
Both the Mexican, Haitian and The French all had the same end results. A Republic was formed in all Revolutions. The most common end goal was for the people to have freedoms and or have more than what they already had. In the end all countries recieved what they wanted and gained their own personal goals.
Some differences that can be spotted consist of the causes of these Revolutions. Mexico and Haiti had somewhat of the same causes compared to France. The people in Mexico and Haiti had zero rights and were abused. In France the people were not abused and had some rights. Another difference between the three were the other countries that owned them. Haiti was controlled by France, Mexico was under the rule of Spain and France was looked over by no one in particular. The differences in results were France did not get to change back very quickly compared to Mexico and Haiti where they had change almost immediately.
In conclusion we all know that these Revolutions have made our history books. Mexico gained independence from Spain. France got out of its Absolute Monarch and Haiti gained freedom for its people. Revolutions always bring something to the country, and in this case it was better
