Student Character Traits

The way students act outside of the classroom, is the way that they also act in the classroom. It may take time to show it, but the character traits of each student will resemble how they are in a learning environment. Each student is a different person, and they all have different ways of learning, however, if they don’t have good character traits it will start to affect the way of learning. Character traits of high school students will effect them later on in their life. Having good character traits, turn into having good habits, and those habits help the students succeed in school. Students go through a lot of different stages in their lives during these four years including becoming mature, getting out of the awkward teenage years, but you never know when something or someone is going to offer you a drug or alcohol, or any other form of peer pressure. Being distracted or focused on the wrong things in high school won’t help you graduate, or even be successful, so they have to do what is best for their futures. Students in school need to focus and worry about the important things because, “In school, self-discipline is central.” (Wilce). Students need the self-discipline to focus on what is important in high school, and not the social aspect of it. High school is more than just school however, because most students start getting in relationships, and they are involved in social media, and other social activities, but they need to have the self-discipline to make sure they complete what they need to do first. Students in high school go through hardships but need to have the self-disciplane to take care of what’s important and keep their mental focus, “They need to keep going through difficult patches, stick at hard tasks, manage their time well and keep mental focus.” (Wilce). In high school students will start to worry about things that aren’t important in the situation they are in, but need to focus on what’s important and try their hardest to be successful. Students who keep a mental focus on what is important, even through other situations and hard-times that are going on, will be successful in school and even after school.
