The H And R Block Challenge

Decent Essays
The H and R Block challenge helps teenagers to understand future responsibilities such as paying bills on time and saving their finances. This activity gives young adults some knowledge about money, and helps them get a real life feel for managing expenses, saving money, investing in retirement, and paying taxes.
Before I started the simulation of the budget challenge, I did not know anything about personal finances. I thought this will be waste of my time because everyone already has some of prior knowledge of paying for supplies with money due to going to several places such as grocery store but there’s was more than i thought. i did not know there’s time limit to pay the bills and i thought it's only meant to be paid once in a year but i was completely wrong. Although it was little annoying and bothersome at first and It definitely pressured me to pay in given time, but it was worth it. I could use these skills and knowledge i learned from this simulation in real life. The mistakes i made in this could help me avoid mistakes i will make in real life when i become a adult. I also learned many things through parents interview. My parents were focusing on studies until they became adults. They knew nothing about mangaging budgets like me 3 months ago. They had many trouble as young adults. The interview helped me to realize how important to know about finances stuff and i also got to hear about their stories so it was exciting and very interesting. My parents is happy that i learned this now so i dont have to go through as what they

Budgeting assignment Based on the graphs and reports from my Clearcheckbook I would be able to say that my spending habits are modest compared. Very rarely did my expenses exceed those of the rest of the class, though I did see some room for improvement in the area of miscellaneous during the month of February. During that month I spent a total of $583 which was a little too steep seeing as though my classmates on spent an average of $222. Most of that money was spent toward activities on the weekend with my teammates, whether it was something such as bowling or roller skating. However, recent studies by two organizations that help provide financial literacy curriculum: EverFi along with Higher One, have shown that financial literacy education being taught in high school continues to positively influence student’s relationship with money and money management well after they graduate. The study was conducted on 65,000 students. The study showed that “students who took a class did better on the survey’s financial knowledge questions, were found to be more averse to debt, more likely to pay credit card bills on time, and less likely to go over their credit limit” (Malcolm, “Financial Literacy Education Has Lasting Impact”). In my free time, I really enjoyed playing Farming Simulator. I've had the same game for many years on Xbox, PC, and on my phone, so I had a pretty good idea of how the game worked and what the best way to make money was. As for on the IPad, it was pretty much the same deal: get your crops in the ground as quick as possible, harvested, and store them until there was a great demand. There was one major difference pertaining to using this game as a tool in class; and that would be having to track and record your finances. When I played this game on different platforms, I never thought about how much money I spent.…

After University/College Years Reflection Adulthood can be a tough time in one's life, and being unprepared can make it even tougher. The expenses that come with being an adult aren’t planned out for you like in college/university, and there are many “hidden fees” that come with being an adult. On the upside, personal finance has taught me how to prepare for these unexpected expenses so I won't have to experience what many adults go through. In the second/third unit of this course, the most important and interesting topics we’ve covered are: Tiny Houses; investments and how they work; the cost of a car; the cost of buying a house; frauds and scams; and insurance. I can honestly say that these 6 topics were the most useful, and will stick with me for a lifetime.…
