Director, Tracey McDowell, in her trailer, The Group, shows the humorless effect plagiarism has on a person. She constructs a panicked tone in order to reveal to her readers the idea that stealing someone’s work as your own will take a toll on you and your conscience. The director chose to use the rhetorical strategy pathos. Pathos is when an audience is drawn in by attracting their emotions. In The Group trailer it is heard and seen throughout the video that the college student feels alone and as if no one is there for him.
