Mrs. Eddy (as she is colloquially referred to by her followers) was the woman who came to found the Christian Science religion, based on the metaphysical New Thought movement, in 1879 (Christian Science, “What is Christian Science?”). God isn 't seen necessarily as a distinct being. Rather, according to Mary Baker Eddy, “All is [the] infinite Mind [of God] and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all” (Christian Science, “What is Christian Science?”). Christian Science doctrine stresses the infiniteness of God, who is the Creator and Sustainer of mankind. This God is what all emanates from. Mankind was created “in God 's image and likeness.” According to the website for Christian Science in Riverside, “Every individual is actually the spiritual child of one Father-Mother, God. The true spiritual identity of everyone is the image and likeness of God, as the first chapter of Genesis makes clear. God 's children are His reflection, or expression, and are always under His infinite care” (Christian Science in Riverside, “Questions and Answers”).
