This is also demonstrated in the film On the Water front when Father Barry speaks up for what he believes is right, by doing that he speaks up for others who are too afraid to speak up for them. Do the Right Thing directed by Spike Lee goes against classical Hollywood by focusing a quite a larger group of people throughout the film, rather than a single individual or small group which is classically done. The movie focuses of racial conflicts of all races within one neighbourhood with both law enforcement and the neighbours themselves. Another way of going against the classical norms was the Lee used many different framing techniques, such as eyeline match cuts. The cuts are shown as if the audience was the character which typically involves looking down or up from other characters. This is seen in Do the Right Thing oftenly when there is an argument in the scene.…

William H. Bonney, also known as Billy the Kid, was a wild west figure who many people see as worse than he actually was. He was not a terrible kid who killed a ton of people, but he did kill some. The reasoning for the killings were reasonable, they weren’t just because he was crazy and enjoyed killing people. Two of the people he killed were killed when he was trying to escape from jail. Many things about Billy the Kid remain a mystery today.…

Texas Chainsaw massacre was very interesting; I have not watched the original movie until now. When watching the movie, it made me realize that in almost every horror movie, there is always a dumb girl, a sexually aroused girl and a serious girl. In older movies the women are normally the last ones to get killed. In newer movies, there is always one or two guys that survive. As far as the women, normally the serious girl survives and the rest dies.…

In the film, Stranger than Fiction, director, Marc Forster demonstrated the concept that the inevitability of fate is often presupposed. However, in reality, the small, seemingly insignificant acts can influence, and eventually alter the outcomes in life. His development of the main characters, Harold and Karen, the filming techniques used, and the use of motifs, imagery and symbolism augmented the strength of this idea. Additionally, the manner in which Forster developed the plot, and the application of point of view, mood, tone, and setting, as well as the specific lines and dialogue throughout the film supported this theme. Harold Crick was a structured man living in a world of “endless calculations” (Stranger than Fiction).…

Forrest Gump is one of those movies that literally anyone born in or during the time of VHS tapes was exposed to a minimum of 18 times… per year. However, as a kid obviously you couldn’t possibly understand the incredible multitudinous pop references of the time, nor the incredible milestones of American history encapsulated throughout the movie. Even after all these years and multiple viewings people still aren’t able to connect all the little dots here and there. And so, as a child, all Forrest Gump was to me was a nice, wholesome family movie in which the main character sounded eerily like Woody from Toy Story. Yet, as I began to mature and understand more complex emotions, I began to piece together, like many others inevitably decided,…
