The Green Light is a beacon of hope to Gatsby. The Green Light shows him that he could change things back to the way it was before with Daisy.

The first time was in chapter one when Nick saw Gatsby for the first time. The second and third time was when Gatsby was telling Daisy about how they could see her house across the sea but there was mist so he told her about how the green light always burns at night. Daisy didn’t show any interest in the light and Gatsby had just realize that the green light was just a green light at the end of a dock. The fourth and fifth time the green light was mention was in chapter nine on the last page. The fourth time was when Nick was thinking about when did Gatsby pick out the green light at the end of Daisy’s dock. Then the fifth time was in the first sentence of the last paragraph of the book it when it said “Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us.
