Hunger Games Book Report

The Greatness of Both Worlds Since its publish seven years ago, Hunger Games has been named as one of the most influent fictions in pop culture, especially among teenagers. In fact, the author of the book, Suzanne Collins became well known for her stunning, breath-taking writing style that is capable of gripping the readers’ attention immediately, along with amazing descriptions and spectacular stories embedded inside the pages. Most of all, through black ink and white papers, the book “draws” an outstanding picture for the audience to access the main character’s mind, and connect with different tones of emotion and turmoil in an oblivious world. In specific, nourishing the small details can help the creation of the main frame of the whole story. For instance, the unique costume that Cinna, Katniss’ fashion stylist, designed exclusively for her first presentation at Capitol flickers with burning flame, representing both District 12 profession, coal-mining, and Katniss’ fearless attitude, “the girl on fire”. Even though the book is thoroughly written with great details, it still has a firm storyline, from when Katniss is a normal teenage girl, to the Hunger Games, to her victory with Peeta Mellark, which consider to be an action that defy the Capitol, sparks a fire of hope in the hearts of the citizens of Panem, foreshadowing a revolution in the near future. Moreover, at the very first chapter, the author immediately shifts herself and became Katniss in order to describe the personal life of her little family and the dull surroundings of District 12, describing life of a typical teenager, and poor people in general, under the influence of strict dictation. In addition, this excellent novel creates urging excitements for the reader through out the whole book, especially the chapters about the Hunger Games, specifically, the violence, conflictions, and brutality of human. Landscapes and settings for the movie are from real life destinations, such as the forest, which was used for the Hunger Games, and the remote rural area, which was used as the Seam of District 12, where Katniss accommodates. Because violence is the main component for the movie, many special effects are added, such as explosion, graphic of mutations and amazing sound effects.
