Most people, when they think of ethics or morals associate the term with rules often used to modify behavior such as the Golden Rule, Ten Commandments or the Hippocratic Oath. Ethics is what is used when trying to establish norms for behavior and conduct that differentiate between acceptable and unacceptable behaviors. Exposure to what is right and or wrong is typically introduced during the childhood years in the home, at school, in church or other social settings. Ethical consciousness and moral development may begin during the formative years but as individuals grow and mature in life perspectives may change on what is right or wrong or morally correct.
