What Is The Greatest Generation

The Greatest Generation, according to many were those Americans who were children, growing up, during the Great Depression and who, before turning eighteen, were running to enlist and serve their country during World War II. So many from this generation served, fought, and supported World War II. Many volunteered in the Spanish Civil War, despite the US Government 's non intervention policy. How the generation survived and responded during great economic hardships and wars shaped the generation in an equally dark world on all sides, where they had to question whether the American Dream was still possible. The Great Depression, the Spanish Civil War and Second World War demonstrate the actions and experiences that took place to make the generation known as the greatest. The Great Depression occurred for this generation while they were children. Most were raised by immigrants who took the ultimate chance and came to live the “American Dream” of opportunity, freedom and wealth.
