Thomas Jefferson is known to be one of the greatest and most highly regarded founding fathers of The United States of America. Jefferson’s credentials were essential to his achievements. Jefferson was the author of the Declaration of Independence, the first diplomat abroad, the first Secretary of State, the second Vice President, and lastly the third United States President. The history created during Jefferson’s presidency was immensely in depth that it is still studied today. As Jefferson made major contributions to the United States Declaration of Independence, he is remembered for being a leading figure in the early development of our country. At the young age of 33, Jefferson was selected to draft the Declaration of Independence. John Adams chose Jefferson because he admired Jefferson’s literary technique. The Declaration of Independence, explained why the 13 colonies wanted to be free of British rule and also contained the importance of individual rights and freedoms. The declaration was then adopted July 4th 1776 which is now known as “Independence Day.” Without this establishment of our freedoms written, our country may not be the same. This contribution by Jefferson is a major personal accomplishment as a writer and politician. As a whole, Jefferson’s contribution to the Declaration of Independence is an accomplishment to our country. These freedoms and individual rights makes us who we are as people and as a nation itself. Our individual rights are guaranteed which let us do what we want to do. Our freedoms let us live the way we want. Jefferson carefully crafted these words knowing what the citizens wanted, and what was right. The United States of America is labeled “The land of the free.” This concept wouldn’t have been created without the initial start of Jefferson, making him undoubtedly successful in this
