That breath on the back of your neck twisting your mind to make that mistake and sin? This specific someone, that voice in your head, that breath can be justified as our Father of Lies we know as Satan. Now, you may know Satan from the many cartoons and comics. You know, the man in the red suit with a tail, horns and a pitchfork who acts like a cute, little deceiver who manipulates people into doing wrong. As God is seen as the Almighty, all good Lord and ruler of all, any opposition to Him is clear to be justified through the means of evil and destruction. Satan was filled with such hate that he decided to set full vengeance towards God for his fall from the glorious Heaven to the fiery flames of Hell: “To wage by force or guile eternal war irreconcilable to our grand Foe”. (Lines 121-122) Satan is reinforcing that through war, or any other devious path, him and his fellow rebel angels can fight their enemy forever. Through Satan’s rebellion against God, his thirst for vengeance grew and grew until he became the enemy, the ultimate nemesis who chose to oppose all morals and laws of God, leaving no trace of good in his conscience. Satan’s rebellion against the Most High was due to his pride and desire to continue war against him due to envy, revenge and his absolute love of evil. Satan not only went against God, but went against all goodness as well. I mean, how can you not see the total evil inscripted in the image of the demonic Satan? And If you still don’t see where I’m going with this, I think it’s time for you to take a little trip down to the therapeutic office and make an

Fire is arguably the greatest knowledge that mankind ever received, and with time, sparked all further technical developments, allowing for man to transcend mere animals. The story of Prometheus, tells of how the titan Prometheus gifts fire to man, and all of the beneficial consequences that subsequently arose from this knowledge. Frankenstein draws from Prometheus to develop the topic of god-like knowledge, and even originally titling itself as The Modern Prometheus. On the other hand, Milton designs fire in Paradise Lost as the incarnation of wrath and pain. However, even though the fire of Frankenstein remains heavily symbolic, Promethean in nature and seemingly unlike the fire of Paradise Lost, it possesses similarities that lack negligibility.…

The word “enemy” often is used to describe the devil or Satan; and the phrase “our father” is referred to as God. “All extremes, except extreme devotion to the Enemy, are to be encouraged”(32). However, in this quote from the book The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, God is the enemy and the devil is referred to as our father below. Although it is a fiction story, the book still gives the readers a way to think about the world’s destruction and recovery through a devil’s aspect (New York, NY: Harper Collins Publishers, 1942). Temptation, the biggest reason humans struggle with their relationship with God, is being used by Screwtape in his letters to Wormwood.…

#5: The strategy by telling a story about the Christian faith from a devil’s point of view is an extremely effective form of reasoning. By narrating the story through Screwtape’s perspective, it immediately establishes the wickedness and corruption that these followers of Lucifer are attempting to coerce us into. It demonstrates how they (the devils) progressively weave immoral ideas into our everyday train of thought in an effort to persuade us into transgression.…

10:20). What is distinct about this “foreign” god is not just that it’s an integrated world system (as described above), but that the source of its power will be the devil himself — not just demons. This is confirmed in Rev 13:2 when it says that “the dragon gave him his power”. Apparently it will be the power of Satan himself that the Antichrist will use to be able to stand against the most powerful armies in the world. Revelation states further in 13:4 "Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?".…

The purpose of this philosophical research paper is to attempt to develop an understanding on the concept of suffering while investigating the problem of evil from a theological perspective using scriptural references from the Holy Bible. Evil is the Absence of Good The Bible teaches that God is a powerful and almighty God. Many people wonder why there is so much pain, suffering, and corruption in the world if there is a presumably good God overseeing it. According to the Bible, God could not possibly cause evil since he is a righteous God.…

The Bible speaks briefly of Lucifer's Rebellion, which is the battle between the envious angel, Lucifer, and God. The first class of sinners, the neutral angels, decided to not play a part in this fight, which would naturally create a layer of disorder. Since these angels did not pick a side, they were susceptible to temptation from both sides of the war, and this temptation could result in greater amounts of damage to the holy realm. For example, if an angel on God's side attempted to recruit a neutral force, who's to say the force will not get offended? Thus, in turn, the neutral force could react in a way that is detrimental to both himself, and the holy angel.…

For the sake of this comparison, it can be hypothesized that the devil is actually guised as the Green Knight. Similar to the manner the serpent deceives Adam and Eve by saying that they “will not die” and they will be “like God, knowing good and evil,” the Green Knight entices Sir Gawain into taking the challenge by degrading the honor of his fellow knights (The New Oxford Annotated Bible 14). Sir Gawain stated he was “the most wanting in wisdom” and was the weakest of the knights marking his lack of knowledge and experience in the world much like Adam and Eve (Stone 37). With his lack of knowledge and experience he decided to metaphorically “eat the forbidden fruit” by taking the Green Knight’s oath which in turn created a series of events that inevitably lead Sir Gawain to…

Many view Satan as an abstract concept, but what is not realized is that Satan is real and that he wants our human souls. The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis is a novel of thirty-one letters, written from an experienced devil, Screwtape, to his inexperienced nephew, Wormwood. In these letters, Screwtape suggests various ways Wormwood can distract his “patient”, specifically a middle aged male, from his faith in God. Screwtape's instructions include tempting the patient to rely on realistic materials in hopes of turning him against God, who cannot be seen. Wormwood tries to tempt his patient following Screwtape's advice, but fails to do so.…

Matthew writes about an encounter between Satan and Jesus. This occurred when Jesus was in the wilderness for forty days and forty nights. Satan tried to tempt him and get him to make a mistake in an attempt to bring Jesus down to his level by making him no longer perfect and without sin. We find this account in Matthew chapter 4 “Then the devil took him to the holy city, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect you.…
