On October 2, 1869 in Probander, on the west coast of India, Gandhi was born. The time and place Gandhi was born had a very crucial bearing on his path of life. During the British monarchy, he fought for the matter of Indian liberation against the British Empire and became formally known as “Mahatma” which means “Great Soul”. He devoted much of his life to helping the Indian people. During his early years, he did not show the signs of developing into the great leader that he eventually became. My life is a roller-coaster so try to keep up! To start, my name is Rulissa Maria Chapa and I am twenty-one years old. I’ve lived a rather interesting life at least to me it seems it’s been interesting. I’m originally from Hobart Oklahoma but at the age of three I moved to McKinney Texas. My parents and I moved a lot, just about every two to three years it seemed like. I was the flower child of two awful divorces. My dad had a daughter with another woman and my mom had a daughter and son with another man. They had me and skipped town to run from child support. This semester of school has taught me more than I’ve learned in I don’t know how long. As I was growing up like most other families my parents had a hand in steering my religion. My mom and I would kneel next to my bed every night and would pray with me, she taught me how to pray and I would practice it alone sometimes. However, as I got older and discovered the vastly different religions I’ve felt lost because I didn’t like saying my God or my religion was any better than anyone else’s. My boss Bayan is a dedicated Muslim and she practices her religion several times a day and sticks to it. At work, she leaves two throughout the shift the pray and she fasts from sun up to sun down. I didn’t understand this; nor would I think I could have ever done it. There was a moment at work about a month ago that made me see this even
