The article consisted of liberal views of the author and no conservative view, and no mention of President Reagan in the paper, so the poll must have been a liberal view. The poll should have looked at two points of view, and opened another opinion besides a liberal view. The author mentioned the liberal poll, but the poll doesn’t include all presidents. Thomas Jefferson was a great president as well, but he wasn't as strong as the other two. He may have written the Declaration of Independence but all of the other things he did, like the Lewis and Clark expedition or purchasing the Louisina Territory, didn't benefit people back then. They benefit us now but back then, people were too busy working and doing other things to care about all that. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were both great presidents but Abraham Lincoln is the strongest out of all of them. Abraham Lincoln is the strongest president because of his leadership and commitment to values.…

Democracy is even so great that after you elect your leader of the country, if he doesn 't work out then he can be impeached. The list goes on and on but to summarize what democracy means to me in one word, its freedom. With all that being said I do believe that our freedoms in America have declined over the years rather than expanded. Not enough to classify America’s government similar to a communist government that’s for sure. Personally I think Obama care is a reason behind the decline of our great nation’s freedoms.…

While politicians on both the left and right would agree that a consumer needs to be protected by law, Roosevelt did something most conservatives would never think of; he supported the creation of a new government program. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was created in 1906 under the Pure Foods and Drugs Act. This was really just one example as to how Teddy Roosevelt was a big government politician, which associates himself with more liberal-minded politicians. This ties in with his trust busting. He busted those trusts to prove that the government was more powerful than businesses. Once again, I would say that he is liberal on this…

He instead tried to work out the problem we all have tried to solve in our minds. What makes a great president? This I believe was designed for us to take it a step further and to ask ourselves ‘Who of the four presidential candidates has the characteristics of a great president?’ I think this was an important topic because it causes us to think about specific characteristics instead of just the party system. It is quite easy to say Trump is the best candidate because he is Republican and that Clinton is the worst because she is a Democrat and vice versa, but I still people struggling to find specific attributes that they think would merit the presidency over another candidate. I was previously unaware of these specific attributes that make a good president.…

He was also majorly exposed when it came to his presidential election, while Nixon was old, nasty, and went through the accusations and name calling due to the Watergate scandal. Nixon’s and his reelection comity team failed to retrieve the wire taps, caught, persecuted, and traced back to Nixon. No lie or action is good if you need to hide it by sending a cover up burglars and the people that you are hiding it from is the American public. Nixon was considered a great president to the American people. He ended American involvement in the war in Vietnam, brought American POWs back home, and shut off the military draft that had the American public frighten due to the fear of going to war.…

What does the success of Jefferson and the failure of Adams teach us in a modern political context? Is a bottom-up leadership style still more effective and desirable in a president than a top-down one? Though the rise of Trump and Sanders shows that an Adamsian style can be very effective in an election year, the immense unpopularity of the second Bush administration (strongly Adamsian in style), and the overwhelming nostalgia for Bill Clinton (who has occasionally been compared to Jefferson) that can be found in many, seems to demonstrate the durability of Jefferson’s more passive style. The actual presidential leadership skills of Trump and Sanders and those of that ilk remain untested. It’s worth noting that the Jeffersonian style is far more popular among those in the race with actual executive experience – all governors (with the exception of Chris Christie) in the running have exhibited a relatively soft-spoken, thoughtful style.…

Transparency in government became more demanded that was reflected in the next presidential election. Following Richard Nixon, who has been called America's most trouble president, the people of the United States elected a man of high morals and strong faith. The act of electing a man polar opposite to Nixon reflected the distrust that the American people possessed following the scandal. Although Richard Nixon was never impeached for his involvement in the scandal, if he had not resigned he would have…

He was willingly giving up his position as President of the United States, and this farewell unofficially set the two-term rule for a presidency. He was seen as one of the greatest men alive because of all he achieved before the country was founded, during the war, and even after the war. George Washington was such a respected man that the capital was named after him! In the book, it is noted that Washington’s health and physical nature were declining rapidly, and many believe that he resigned because he feared dying in office. Due to the way he left, and did not act as a monarch, it taught many that presidents were replaceable, and that the country did not need to fret because he was resigning from office.…

In the second half of the 20th century, I think it’s safe to say we had two of the most iconic presidents of the time. Lyndon B. Johnson, who did have some conservative views, but all his policies proved otherwise and classified him as a liberal. We also had Ronald Reagan the conservative president who campaigned to build up a stronger national defense, to lower taxes, and to decrease the amount of government involvement in people’s everyday life. Both of these President’s came during a critical time for Americans, Johnson was President during the Vietnam War and Reagan came during a time of recession. Johnson was towards reform and when he first came to office passed the Civil Rights Bill, fulfilling the promises of John F Kennedy to ban discrimination based on gender and race and also desegregating schools.…
