Susan Plyte once said, “Money is not everything. Happiness and the fulfilling that came from staying true to you are the only measures of wealth.” Many people believe that money is the most effective things to inspire people to do work well, but it is not always true. Throughout history, we can see that people who are outstanding in their own field all show the great interest in their jobs. Therefore, from my perspective, it is much more important to do work that one finds fulfilling.
Salman Khan is a typical example that demonstrates that people need to do work that one finds fulfilling. Khan is the founder of the Khan Academy, a free online education platform with which he has produced over 6,500 video lessons teaching a wide spectrum of academic subjects, mainly focusing on mathematics and sciences. He has one trillion-dollar opportunity with his video lessons, but he still keeps them free. Because he wishes everyone can learn from his video from all over the world. Bill Gates shows great appreciation on Khan’s honorable beliefs. Maybe because of Khan’s influence, Bill Gates decided that Microsoft’s office suite would be free.
