I chose to create a journal that Gatsby wrote before the events of the book. This journal took place during Gatsby’s time on the frontlines of the war. I chose this because I wanted to portray Gatsby in his younger and more honest days as a soldier during the war. This narrative would be in first person through Gatsby’s eyes and I have chosen to write as Gatsby in this period of his life because I felt that I would be able to portray him more accurately in this riotous period, I feel that he may have been a different person before all the money and corruption arrives. The key theme in this text is the innocence and naive in Gatsby’s younger days. I wanted to portray this to contrast to what he has become in the book, innocence versus corruption.
