Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan’s relationship can easily be described as delusional. In the five years spent apart, Daisy and Jay’s lives became their own. Daisy is now married to Tom Buchanan, a man of “old money.” Gatsby seems to reappear at just the right time. Tom is having an affair with a woman named Myrtle Wilson, and pays little attention to Daisy. Their entire reunion is based on lies and fantasy. Gatsby has been lying to Daisy about who he is.
