1. As Nick approaches his house at the beginning of the chapter, what does he notice about Gatsby’s house? (hint: it’s at night) Why is Gatsby “glancing into some of the rooms”?
At the beginning of the chapter, when nick approaches his house, Nick thinks there is something almost a gothic and monstrous figure in the corner. He was just scooping out the area because he felt a presence of something darker.

Nick refers gatsby as being the “Son of God”, because he sees him someone who is important and in the spotlight Nick believes that his father Dan cody and was like the God of Gatsby because he gave him the resources to succeed.
2. What was Jay Gatsby’s real name? What does the change in name signify in terms of Gatsby’s development as an ideal? (hint: what does Gatsby’s dream have to do with his character?)
Jay Gatsby’s real name was James Gatz. He changed his name because he wanted to make sure that he had some sense of having power. he wanted to mature and make his own decisions . he wants the title to match the way he feels. He wants a strong name that won’t represent anything from his past. he longed for elegance and class.
3. Who is Dan Cody? What role did he play in Gatsby’s life? How much money did he inherit from Cody? Did the money or the experience matter more in shaping Gatsby’s destiny?
Dan Cody was an extremely rich man who is old. He is an important figure in his life because he helped him when he ran away. When Cody died, he left Gatsby a large amount of money, $25,000, but Cody's mistress was not at all happy that Gatsby was receiving that much …show more content…
