Pride Causing The Fall of Man Pride is a feeling or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements. Pride can lead to the fall of man. The fall of man prove how the individuals go through a complicated phase that affects them to lose their power, status, and prosperity. While some individuals might think pride can cause the fall of man or it can not affect their downfall, it can actually result in being qualified; therefore, pride can cause a reaction to an individual’s life but it's not the only reason for the cause of their downfall. It is in fact true that one’s pride, achievements, and goals are the cause of their downfall. In the “Great Gatsby”, Jay Gatsby finally told Tom that Daisy loved Gatsby instead of Tom. Gatsby’s pride led him to expressing the truth about his relationship between Daisy ,which also led to Daisy expressing how she felt about Tom and Gatsby. The author, F. Scott Fitzgerald, states, “your wife doesn’t love you… she’s never loved you.” It is valid that pride is very effective to an individual’s hope for a positive outcome that concludes the decision they chose to make. And when their hope dies, then their downfall has been created. Also in the “Great Gatsby”, Tom decides to respond to Gatsby’s response, so he can prove that Daisy have always loved him. According to Fitzgerald, he also states, “God Damned lie. Daisy loved me when she married me…” Tom’s pride led him into proving that his wife actually loved him more than Gatsby. The outcome of
