In today’s society, most people enjoy going out to see a good movie or two. Before we do so we watch trailers and look at movie posters to see what these movies will be about. Movie posters are a good way to take a quick glance to capture the basis of a film before we pay to see it. Over the years we have progressively gotten better at capturing a movie through a single poster. In 1974, a very famous movie in the genre of drama and romance was release to the public. This movie is known as The Great Gatsby. This movie made 6.5 million in the box office. However, the movie poster is very simple. Including one picture of a couple with a border, the title of the movie, and a simple quote to tie up poster at the bottom. Fast forward to 2013, a remake …show more content…
At the bottom of the poster there is a quote that states “Gone is the romance that was so divine.” reading this quote the audience isn’t getting much insight on what the movie was about. However, when you match the movie title with the image you can get a better understanding. The image on this poster is of a women standing in front of a man and they are both looking off into the distance. This image makes it seem like there is going to be some sort of chasing on the guys end, trying to get the women. This poster is trying to tell the audience to go see the movie because it is romantic but it will be more dramatic than you …show more content…
This time around there is a lot going on in the poster, from the background to the amount of characters centered onto the poster. The poster made for the remake of this movie has a very masculine gold border with a standard black background, which would appeal to a male audience. All six of the frequently seen characters can be seen on the front of the poster in very wealthy looking clothes for the time. Although there are so many characters on the poster this time around, the two main characters are on the center of the poster blown up bigger than the others. That way the audience knows the movie will be based around these two.
