The movie that will be described is the most recent one that was shown in 2013. The movie takes place during the roaring 20’s around the outskirts of New York. The main characters are as follows: Tom Buchanan, Daisy Buchanan, Jay Gatsby, Nick Caraway (narrator), Jordan Baker, Myrtle Wilson, and George Wilson. Nick Caraway finds himself living next to the famous Gatsby who threw countless amounts of parties, but no one ever knew why. Leonardo DiCaprio is the main character in the movie (Gatsby), all of his emotions can be told with his face in a matter of seconds of just looking at him. The director made sure to put the right music with his emotions. In doing that the director helps the audience comprehend how or what mood he is in before he even says one word. Once one word even comes out of his mouth everyone already knows what his actions are going to be like. For example, whenever he is meeting Daisy again, he shows signs of nervousness and his facial expressions show he is not ready to meet her, although when they both come face to face with each other the whole room turns quiet and it’s as if the world just stopped for second and they were the only ones alive. Later on in the movie, Daisy begins to spend her days with Gatsby and now Gatsby isn 't much of a conservative person but more of a “showing his face more” and not being so to himself. His happiness comes about. Sadly, the director takes a 180 turn and everything goes down hill after they began spending time together, once the director takes that turn, the whole movie just seems to turn dark and not entertaining anymore. The movie should have not been so gloomy at the end, and the exaggeration should have not been to it’s highest extent. Over all the movie is magnificent excluding some parts that just were not necessary. Leonardo DiCaprio depicts Jay Gatsby perfectly in every way including his appearance, description of what you 'd think he looks like (in the book) and his emotions. Everything that could 've been imagined of an actor for this role, he did it. He was the perfect candidate for this role and did the best job. Tobey McGwire as narrator and Nick Caraway also did a tremendous job with the narration. He was so passive about the way he expressed his words and adding in quotes from the book made the movie even better. The way the director would put those quotes in there as if they were being written on a book also made a great impact on the movie. Every movie has their imperfections but, overall this movie is great and should be classified as a classic
