Daisy Buchanan, a character from the novel The Great Gatsby, is a very likable character who could seem to please everyone's ears with her sirenic voice. Nick Carraway, the narrator of the story and also the cousin of Daisy Buchanan, can see through her façade. Contrary to all of the other characters very opinionated thoughts, Nick keeps to himself and is reserved when it comes to Daisy and everybody else. "She laughed again, as if she said something very witty, and held my hand for a moment, looking up into my face, promising that there was no one in the world she so much wanted to see. As time went on, she pushed a lot of the genuinely good things out of her life. Family and true love was never really a main concern for her anymore, it was her appearance and money that controlled her now. Not only was this affecting Daisy, but it was also affecting the one who loved her the most, Gatsby. Her careless and immoral behavior came into play when Gatsby reentered her life. "'Look at that,' she whispered, and then after a moment: 'I'd like to get one of those pink clouds and put you in it and push you around"(94). Daisy loves the attention that Gatsby gives her and she keeps on refueling it, time and time again. She never once considers Gatsby's feelings which exemplifies her corruption so perfectly. He was the man who did everything for her, and she took advantage of his heart. Gatsby even gets rid of his extravagant parties just to please Daisy. Once she knew that Gatsby would do anyhting for her, she took him for granted. She teased him, lead him on in hopes of becoming a couple again, and killed him too. His own love for her pushed him to the edge, and Daisy had no remorse about the situation at all. When Daisy met Gatsby there was a definite connection, but these two weren't meant to be.
