First off, there are four main characters. While reading the novel, it became very apparent that one of the main characters was Jay Gatsby. He is a very quiet young man who is eventually turns 30 over the time period of the novel. Carraway grew up in Minnesota and lived there till he packed up and moved to New York. After his move to New York, he ended up settling down in the West Egg district of Long Island, where he became Gatsby’s neighbor. His reason for moving was so that he could get into the bonds business. It is possible that readers could start to think that Nick secretly moves into New York because he already knows about everything going on between Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan. Nick could defintly be descrived as being just a sneaky person trying to slither around in people’s business and get into things that do not concern him. For instance, he did move next to Gatsby and that gave him the open opportunity to become close with Gatsby and find out dirty little secrets about the love affair he was participating in with Daisy. She was described as a beautifully young lady. Buchanan grew up in Louisville, KY where she was very well known around the military base stationed near her home. Daisy is known to be Nick’s cousin and also to be the center of Jay Gatsby’s world. Daisy met Jay whenever he was getting rid to go to war. He fell head over heels for her and she promised to always wait for him to come back. That was definitely not the case though. While Jay was away fighting in war for the country, Daisy ends up marrying another man named Tom Buchanan. Daisy is sometimes described as charming rich and sophisticated but everyone also knows she is just very materialistic and in love with money. It should be very believable that everything cross that was said about Mrs. Buchanan is true. She should have kept her promise to Gatsby and never married into the Buchanan family. Throughout some of the novel, questions of her real reason behind marrying Nick came into my mind. Daisy could have loved Tom but she could have also only married him to try and cover the fact that she had feeling for Jay Gatsby. There had to be some pretty high connection between the Jay and Daisy, especially whenever he arrived back home from war because the two of them ending up making love with one another right before Gatsby went
