Author
F. Scott Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896, in St. Paul, Minnesota . He was originally born Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald. He had a bright future ahead of him. He went to school and worked on his writing. Fitzgerald joined the army and fell in love with Zelda Sayre. When he got out of the army he started writing. He published a few books then married Zelda Sayre. They had a daughter named Francis Scott Fitzgerald. He wrote many short stories after that. He then wrote his life changing book. The Great Gatsby. It made him famous overnight. After he finished The Great Gatsby his life began to fall apart. He became an alcoholic and depressed. His wife started to have mental problems. She got sent to a mental institution.

When it came a month before the publishing he changed it to The Great Gatsby. He wanted to change it again, but it was too late. The book had already had copies made of it. plot Synopsis Nick Carraway moved to New York to join the bond business. Then he rented a house right across the bay from Daisy. His neighbor is Jay Gatsby. Gatsby throws party everyday. The only time he isn’t throwing a party is when he calls for repairs. He throws these parties because he hopes that one day Daisy would wander in. Daisy is Nick’s cousin. He goes over to her house to meet Daisy, Jordan, and Tom. He finds out that Tom is abusive and he cheats on her. Then Nick is invited to eat with them. While they are eating Tom gets a phone call. Daisy gets up to go see who it is. She finds out it is the girl that he is cheating with. Nick is later on invited to go to a party at Gatsby’s house. This is where he hears some rumors about Gatsby. He hears rumors like: Gatsby is a murderer, he is third cousin to Cisar Willham, and that he is a German spy. Nick and Jordan discuss Mr. Gatsby while they are at the party. While they are getting ready for tea Gatsby becomes extremely anxious. When Daisy comes over for tea she thinks that Nick likes her. She is shocked to find Gatsby there. When Gatsby enters the room it is a little awkward, but him and Daisy hit it off. Gatsby then takes Daisy over to have the grand tour of his house. Nick tries to let them be alone, but Gatsby insisted that he tag along. After the tour Nick and Daisy go home. They are later invited to attend another party he is throwing. Except this time Tom, Jordan, Daisy, and Nick come to the party. When they get there they spend some time with Gatsby. Gatsby agitates Tom by calling him the polo player. Tom didn’t want to be with them so he went over to talk to some girls. Daisy gives him a pin so he can write some numbers down. Daisy and Gatsby went off by themselves. After the party they all met up at Daisy’s house. While they are at Daisy’s Tom wants to go to town. They all get ready, and Tom drives Gatsby’s yellow car, and Gatsby drives Tom’s blue coupe’. They speed off to town. They rent a room at The Plaza hotel. While there Tom decides to confront Gatsby. Tom tells everyone that Gatsby is a bootlegger.
