In “Creating Creator” by David H. Lynn explains how Nick’s responsibility of Gatsby was due to the lack of human responsibility of everyone else. Lynn said, “... Nick’s eyes than any collective guilt for Gatsby’s fate…. No code of solidarity to the social weal, or responsibility, or human dignity, retains any forceful imperative” (161). Nick was the only character that saw any form of moral responsibility to take care of Gatsby. All the people that came to Gatsby’s party lacked any form of moral responsibility Gatsby in a time of help, this is also because Gatsby refused to interact with the people at his parties. When Nick was at lunch with Gatsby and Jordan, Jordan tells Nick why Gatsby really invited Nicks to lunch. She says, “She’s not to know about it. Gatsby doesn’t want her to know. You 're just supposed to invite her to tea”(79). Daisy is not supposed to know that Gatsby wants to meet her again, Nick is supposed to invite Daisy to tea so Gatsby and Daisy will meet again coincidentally. Gatsby knew that Nick knew Daisy, so Gatsby became very reliant on Nick in order to achieve his dream and get Daisy back. The funeral that Nick had planned, he was waiting for people to come even though no one was there. The minister questioned if anyone was coming, but Nick wanted to wait for someone to show up. Nick said, “The minister glanced several times at his watch, so I took him aside and asked him to wait for half an hour. But it wasn’t any use. Nobody came”(174). No one came to Gatsby’s funeral to show that who actually cared for Gatsby in times of paying respects for someone 's life. Nick being responsible for Gatsby’s dream he felt responsible for setting up his funeral, he was able to realize how important he was to Gatsby.
