Not only were they rebellious, but society created quite the stereotype for them as well. Since so many other things were changing, they believed they had complete control over themselves and could act in any way they would like. Some of these women became celebrities along with the baseball players since they were both pretty popular during the 1920’s. According to “The Formation of Modern American Mass Culture”, ““Radio, phonograph, and silver screen all molded and mirrored” the culture around those areas and others.” The new inventions made every day life so much easier for people all around America whether it was to catch a game they were missing, hear the latest news, or even listen to and make recordings during their leisure time. Sports were a huge part of the new inventions, especially baseball; therefore, the sport of baseball became well known and everybody wanted to watch or catch the latest scores of games. Although they could just ask a friend who would be likely to know, they could also find out from radios, newspapers, and magazines which were part of the many new inventions in America. Radio was simply an invention that could give the life of a game to those who couldn’t attend for any reason so they wouldn’t miss out. The broadcasters would even use different voices to excite listeners and give play by play details to keep everybody on their toes. This was a large technological advance for everybody which provided new opportunities.
