One symbol that is prevalent throughout The Great Gatsby is Dr. Eckleburgs eye billboard. Symbolism is illustrated in the song “Strange” by Sunz of Man when they are rapping “Strange eyes keep on watching me/I see those strange eyes keep on watching me/Strange eyes keep on watching me.” Dr. Eckleburgs billboard hangs over the roadway between West Egg and New York City. The eyes are constantly watching the characters of the book and judging them on the choices they make. Conveniently located near George Wilsons mechanic shop, the eyes on the billboard watch over the valley of ashes and sees all the things that goes on. The eyes represent a higher power that looks over the characters in The Great Gatsby.
