It represents, “fairness and innocence” (Jacob 1).White also means that the subject of the sentence is, “morally unblemished, and honorable” (Jacob 1). The characteristic of innocence and being morally perfect can apply to many characters in the story. It can apply to the main character Nick, because he arrives in the New York morally unblemished and returned west with his innocence violated. It can also apply to Gatsby’s lover Daisy Buchanan. An example of this would be when Nick first visits his cousin’s home and saw Jordan and Daisy. Nick would then state that "They were both in white” (Fitzgerald 13). While driving home Daisy ran over Myrtle Wilson. Her husband George who had already gone psychotic, began to accuse Tom of killing his wife. Tom, convinced that Gatsby was driving the car, told George where Gatsby lived. The next day Gatsby was shot directly in the heart by George Wilson, killing him instantly. George then turn the gun on himself and took his own life. Nick and Gatsby’s father are the only people who attended Gatsby’s funeral services. After the services, and failing at his goal to become rich in the East, Nick moves back to the West. Tom and Daisy go away to an unknown location, and after being dumped by Nick, Jordan remained in the New York area.
