The Great Depression was one of the worst times in United States history. A lot of bad things happened during this time.
It first started when the stock market crashed in 1929. It crashed because farmers overproduced crops, they thought the more crops they produced that the more money they made, and because of high tariff taxes. Before we went in the Depression, European countries were in even a worse depression. So we couldn’t trade or sell items unless paying outrageous taxes.
Now that they couldn’t sell all the crops. They just threw them away or gave bundles of wheat to the bread lines. Over the years we grew so much wheat the top soil became dust in the Great Plains. Then, during the Depression massive winds occurred and swept up the
