After school ends for the day, children focus on other things such as video games, family time and often harmful activities. Children also lose focus with educational activities when they are at home because parents don’t pay enough attention to their children. Our society is influencing children to become more rebellious, leading them to get out of control and refusing to do homework activities. After-school programs are beneficial because children stay occupied and focused on their school work, and they have academic help. Also government official should support after-school programs and give enough funds to provide for the children. For example, some children don’t have computers at home to complete their homework assignments that require typing and software programs. If children don’t have the resources to finish an assignment, children will not be engaged in their learning. On the other hand, after-school programs provide the most updated technology and have the resources children need to succeed in their education. After school programs help children with their academic needs. If the government doesn’t support these programs and give children educated alternatives after school then children will most likely to fall in bad influences that will lead them to trouble. If there is more after-school programs more children have the opportunity to grow academically.
Children’s learning is very important, therefore after school programs should provide the right tools to make their learning accessible and easier. This also includes having enough staff that are licensed to tutor primary subjects and monitor their progress. One out of every 10 students in middle school have showed a tremendous improvement in their homework activities, and children turn better quality of homework to their teachers. Also, children have more patience and focus more on completing tasks during school hours (After School Opportunities).

According to William Bratton a chief from Los Angeles department of Public safety states” After school programs is an extremely powerful anticrime weapon. California and the federal government must provide the resources to keep teens of the streets during the crucial after school hours. It 's a matter of public safety (After-school Programs Prevent Crime). Chief William makes a reasonable point, if children stay occupied in school activities and attend after school programs they will make better decisions and will stay out of trouble. If there’s more after school programs more children will attend these programs and they will less likely to commit crimes. Law enforcement believes in these after school programs therefore their organizations will help these children be safe. Children are not supervised at home constantly, therefore they can get into trouble.
