The war itself has many different actors aiding both sides. At the current time there is a lot of confusion on who allies with who. In many cases, groups side with certain issues and disagree with them on others, thus fighting them at times. This causes much confusion and makes it difficult to decide who the real enemy is. The United States and Russia both play large roles in the civil war going on. Russia sees the Assad Regime as the legitimate power of the state. Russia’s tactics to end the war is to aide the regime with military support. Bombings of Free Syrian Army grounds has been the strongest impact the Russians have had on the war. This ideology is contrary to the United States view of the war. The United States seeks regime change; however, they are less involved militarily. The United States aides the Free Syrian Army fighters, but does not provide military support. Civilians have faced too much: barrel bombs, starvation, the targeting of hospitals and rescue workers and the suspected use of chemical weapons with no signs of the regime stopping anytime soon. It is too late for the Free Syrian Army to topple the Assad regime. Although inhumanely and through acts of war crimes, which should be settled through the United Nations, it seems as if Assad’s regime has won the war. It will not be long before Assad and his allies destroy the entire city of Aleppo. The United States should stop funding the Free Syrian Army immediately. Continuing to aid the Free Syrian Army will result in more destruction and loss of life in Syria. The Free Syrian Army will not like this plan; therefore, the United States needs to work with them to convince them that the continued warfare will lead to massive destruction and that a negotiated treaty with the Regime would be the best option
