As I begin I want to specify what the government is for and why we have it. The government is there to support all of us, the people of the United States of America. As mentioned in the Declaration of Independence the government is there to do what the public cannot do for ourselves, this means they will provide police who will protect our communities, road workers who will build us roads, and any other basic infrastructural needs. They are there to help us, that was the main reason in the first place. The exact definition of government is as follows “the governing body of a nation, state, or community.“ I compared two dictionary definitions of government. The first is from Dictionary.com and it says “the political direction and control exercised over the actions of the members, citizens, or inhabitants of communities, societies, andstates; direction of the affairs of a state, community, etc.; political administration:” the second is from Encyclopedia Americana, it was first published in 1829 and it says “...groups within a society are regulated for various purposes, such as common defense, general welfare, or internal peace. Thus the government is an agency of the state that embraces the organizations and procedures by which laws are enacted, applied, and adjudicated.” The reason I compare the two are for two reasons: one, I wanted to show the differences and how much the signal definition has changed.
