John (The Gospel): In this particular book which is one of the four Gospels and is called the called the Gospel of John is known to be that of a what is recognized as what we would call or know as a narrative literary genre (Smith, 2016). According to our text, “The Author of this book is John and he is known at the “the beloved disciple” and the people that were receiving this were the Greek-speaking Jews that were living outside of the city of Israel. The Gospel of John was recorded or told to be written sometime following the year of 70 AD and before 90 AD in a place called Ephesus” (Hindson & Towns, 2013, pp. 383-384). According to scripture in the book of Psalms, it says, “And my God. My soul is cast down within mel therefore I remember you from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar” (Psalm 42: 6, ESV). So according to this verse, Hermon was retrieving and searching for the Jordan river. Knowing this, it is said that the Jordan river overflowing in all the banks, so there was always water and the people would never run including during the harvest time (Joshua 3:15, ESV). Jesus was baptized in the Jordan river but there isn’t a for sure account on the location of where it was at, but most likely it was at the upper part of the river and Jesus was baptised by John the baptist. In general the baptism was organized and being done by John and his disciples (Smith, 2016). The Jordan river is shown in the bible many times even in the book of 2 Kings, where “Elisha was sent by an angel to go and wash himself in the Jordan seven time and he shall be clean” (2 Kings 5:10-14, ESV). Then there where Joshua led the israelites into the promised land and they crossed the Jordan on dry land. I believe the most important event that happened at the Jordan river would be John baptising Jesus in the river (Matthew 3:13,

One cannot help but love the uniqueness of this gospel. It gives an intriguing, symbolic message to present the story of Jesus. We also encounter Jesus in a way we had never seen prior. He tends to speak in full discourses to address situations rather than speaking in parables as seen in the Synoptic gospels (LTJ, pg. 469). John’s gospel also presents us with information that is not recorded in any other gospel.…

As the feet of the Levites carrying the ark, touched the edge of the Jordan River, the waters stopped flowing (Joshua 3:15-17). After the Israelites settled in Canaan, the Ark is only occasionally mentioned in scripture. We know it had a home in Bethel (Judges 20:18, 27), Shiloh (1 Sam 1:3, 25; 3:3, 4:3), Kiriath-jearim (1 Samuel 7:1-2), and Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6:12-17). The Bible also says that the Ark of the Covenant was carried from Jerusalem, when David was fleeing from his son to Transjordan (2 Samuel 15:24-25,…

The Gospels are the first four books of the New Testament in the Bible that record the good news of God’s plan for a Savior through the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Writing from before Jesus’ birth to about AD 85, each author had a particular style to communicate the life and meaning of Jesus. Though the methods may differ, each Gospel writer’s main purpose was to call people to faith (Elwell and Yarbrough 59). The book of Matthew was originally written for the Jews and presents Jesus as the Son of David and Abraham (64).…

    The Gospel Of Matthew

When it comes to the Gospel of Matthew, there are very different perspectives when it comes to Jesus. At the time of Matthew writing his gospels, his main focus was on mainly to provide people who were in a sense “like him” to hear the great news when it came to Jesus. One of Matthews main purposes was to be able to provide everyone and anyone who wanted to listen the story of how Jesus lived, died, and then brought back; this is why the Gospel of Matthew is a matter of fact called the Gospel “according to” Matthew. Due to the fact that Matthew was a Jewish man, his interpretation of his Gospel is different from the other three men that also wrote some of their own including John, Luke, and Mark. It can be seen that back in Jesus’ time Jews may have been prideful, in that by believing in Jesus they thought they may have been drifting away from their own traditional ways.…

Audience To determine the audience of the Gospel of John, it is easier to determine what the purpose of John was first. The author of John is blunt about what the purpose of writing his gospel was, and John 20:31 most clearly states that “But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name.” This verse can further be supported by John 8:24 and John 3:16, all of which collectively describe the idea that Jesus would die for everyone’s sins, and thus those who believe would have eternal life with God. From this, it can be inferred that the author of John was written to anyone who did not know Jesus or wanted to know who he was/is.…
