The Gospel In Upland

Improved Essays
There has been a diffrent kind of work in Upland this week. There has been a bunch a people that we talked to this week that were frustrated about their life trials. It seems that when people share their life trials with us, we sort of take on some of the weight of their trials. We have been doing our best to comfort people and share with them how the gospel can help them in their life. I know that the gospel can help bring us peace and comfort, but it is difficult to help others understand. Often when we are angry or sad we want something that will fix our problems now. The gospel takes work we have to put our effort in, we have to try, then we will see the blessing come to us.

I think that its interesting that all of the same kind of people all needed similar help. I glad we able to

Elder Gress was driving and was flipping a U-turn, as he was turnning around someone tried to pass us on the left and we clipped the side of their car. No one got hurt we are all ok! Just some cars with some scrapes. The other driver was a nice guy and we got everything figured out ok.

late one night we were going to go give the sisters missionaries a blessing one night, but we were waiting for the zone leaders to show up so were just waiting around. We noticed a possum on the top of the balcony accross from us... so what do we do? We go to the top of the balcony! We got up to the top and the possum couldn't really escape because we were blocking the stairs so it just kinda wander around and we watched it. When we started down the stairs and it follow after us. It was probably ready to get out of there. It freak us out... It was following us! In return I think we freaked IT out, so the possum booked it and jumped down the last flight of stairs and ran into the bushes.

Then we went and gave the sisters a blessing. It was cool to see a possum so close!. I who knew there were so many animals in Rancho Cucamonga?

Down through the eons of time, the Body of Christ has had the ability to forget the core mission of the gospel. God has commissioned us and set us apart to fulfill His plan on this planet. Although the Church gets involved in many activities and projects, like cleaning up the neighborhood, summer camps, visiting the shut-ins, what is the reason or purpose for our action. There are many organizations, which hold marriage conferences, feed the poor, build housing in third world countries, give comfort to the grieving, and such, but is this the primary mission of the church? “Without a clear understanding of mission, organizations, and churches alike suffer.”…

This is a story of a local church, the “United Baptist Church,” located in a little village also called Walijo, Kaduna state of Nigeria, West Africa. The building of this church is like some of the Old Testament accounts. Much more like the time of Moses and the children of Israel in the wilderness. When God spoke to Moses to summon the people and he asked that every one of them participated in the construction of the tent in the service of the Lord. Life is not as easy as just speaking words, people may be effortless toward everything and only a few will like to learn new things.…

Christians in the helping profession need to understand that a human person is created by God in His image. In the Bible, Genesis 1:27 states, “So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (New Living Translation). “Since the human person is created in the image of God, and since love of neighbor is at one with love of God, there is no higher calling than caring for the human person” (Gascoigne, 2015). A helping professional’s work is to show God’s love to their clients while helping them.…

The one verse I will forever live by is Psalm 143:8, “Let the morning bring the word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I entrust my life”. This verse tells me that I do not need to fear about singing in front people, or fear befriending people, or fear leading others, or fear anything in this world because the moment I gave my heart to God, He continually held onto it with such a delicacy. He knows that I trust and have faith in Him, and likewise, I know He trusts and has faith in me. Many people do not think about God having faith and trust in them, but He does.…
