In connection to the cheaper prices and toys to attract children, advertisers spend billions in marketing and showcasing unhealthy foods to children. According to the author of "The Gorge-Yourself Environment," “social scientist are finding, a host of environmental factors---among them…advertising…can influence the amount the average person consumes” (Goode 462). An example provided by Goode is when moviegoers are shown that they could purchase a larger tub of popcorn, cheaper than the customary container, the moviegoer is more apt to purchase the larger tub. This will sanction them to consume an estimate of fifty percent more popcorn than normal. The Food Standards Agency did research regarding food promotion and children’s eating behaviors.
