Personal Narrative: The Death Of Harley

Throughout my childhood years, I grew up with a golden retriever named Harley. He had thick fluffy fur, which blew along with the wind as he soared through the flowers in the long, grassy fields. He had huge brown marble eyes, which glistened while he glanced at you. His long bushy tail resembled that of a fox. His bright red tongue flapped around freely as he wobbled about his way. He was the sweetest dog one could have and was a very playful. Although his outgoing attitude resembled the attitudes of most golden retrievers, I began to observe something different about Harley. Many people don’t see the desires or the distinctive assets of their pets. This is because people get too busy and end up with no time to spare for their pets. Most pets yearn to be loved because it is apart of their nature. They deserve love and attention just as much as humans do. Harley was born with a desire to be loved. He was full of curiosity and was seeking attention. I had a desire to grow closer to him as well as to provide the love and support he needed. Harley stood apart from other golden retrievers because of his exclusive characteristics. Late at night, the stars are twinkling and the moon is right next to them shining brightly over the smooth river in our backyard. I can easily hear the loud, rapid chirps of the crickets right outside of the window. I lay on the couch comfortably curled up in the shape of a circle like position. My eyes, struggling to stay open, are rested on the screen of my 20-inch TV. Harley slowly comes creeping into the room only to find that my attention is elsewhere. He staggers up to me at a slow pace and places his nose under my hand. He then tries to pick my hand up with his wet nose in order to gather my attention.
