Personal Credo Research Paper

I believe the golden rule is my most important credo. Not only is this my most important credo but I believe it is also my family’s most important credo. I live my day to day life differently every day but the only thing that doesn’t ever change is this credo. I treat everyone I come in contact with respect and I expect the same thing in return. This I believe is the answer to almost all problems in today's society and that’s why I live my day to day life with the golden rule being number one.
I believe if everyone showed respect towards each other then everyone would receive respect and there wouldn’t be any major issues in today’s society. That's how the golden rule is supposed to work, but unfortunately, it isn’t. The problem starts with one person choosing not to be kind or show respect towards one another. It’s such a simple concept but so hard for some to understand.
The golden rule is taught in preschool or kindergarten because it is the simplest of rules. Even at a very young age, we are taught to do to others as you want to be done to you. If you don’t want them to kick you then don’t kick them, simple. Except, I watch the news and hear the stories about

I know that I can help out our society by treating others how I want to be treated. I acknowledged that I don’t have to like or get along with everyone but I do have to show respect towards everyone. Like for instance, when I get pulled over by a police officer, I have to show respect towards him even if I don’t think I deserved to get pulled over. I am given the opportunity to show respect towards others every single day in the simplest ways. For example, while at the supermarket hold the door for that older lady walking in, or let the lady with two items go in front of you in line because you have twenty more items than she does.
